About Us

Reall Milling has been a thought for many years and was finally brought into fruition with the purchase of mobile milling equipment (namely the Lucas Mill) and a strong desire to stop so many big, old, fantastic trees being wasted, either by burning, chipping, shredding or just rotting away.

The founder of Reall Milling, Allan Seagrave is a self- confessed ‘timber addict’ he loves anything in timber and can often be heard saying “I’ll make it out of timber…” to almost any situation that he may encounter.

After first seeing the Lucas Mill in operation at a Timber Museum Open Day in 2000, Allan could see the potential of such a machine and began working his way toward owning and operating such equipment to maximise the gain from unfortunate but necessary situations like road widening, some big old trees would be pushed over to make way for inevitable and understandable progress, but then not used for anything, other than some
landfill or a pile of woodchip. Local timber mills where not interested in this kind of timber. The local Council to their credit did stockpile some of this timber for their own use, but could not take every tree they had to push over. So in an effort to use as much of this timber as possible Reall Milling was started.

Allan now runs the mill as often as he can to maximise the use from these ‘unwanted’ trees and contacts local developers, builders and tree arborists even private citizens to source and use trees which would otherwise be taken to the dump, burned or become a problem. This timber is used primarily to satisfy building projects underway at his family block of land, or can be bought on order for various uses from construction to landscaping and furniture making.
